About

The mission of the Jared Box Project is to lift the spirits, entertain and put a smile on the face of children in the hospital. A Jared Box is a plastic shoe box filled with games, toys, activities and notes. Boxes are created with love and then donated to local hospitals serving children in YOUR area.

The Jared Box project was started in 2001 by the children at Our Lady of Victory School in State College, Pennsylvania to honor their classmate and friend, Jared. He was a brave little boy who battled cancer with courage and faith that continues to inspire us all. As Jared's Mom, Ruth, shared: "Think of one of your happiest childhood moments. Chances are it involved play - whether it was a favorite vacation, special toy, or time spent with family and friends. A Jared Box is the gift of play to children in the hospital."

We invite you to make Jared Boxes for children in your local hospital(s). Jared Boxes are easy, fun, inexpensive and rewarding to make. All the supplies you need can be found at your local dollar or department store. Instructions and downloadable forms are available on our website, along with a directory of hospitals to help you find one in your area. We would also be thrilled to help you contact your local hospital. Whether you make 1 or 100 Jared Boxes, you can help lift the spirits of children in the hospital!
