Whose Help Is Required

A service idea that's well worth exploring for all Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Brownies, YMCA youth groups and more. We even have https://thecrayoninitiative.org/product/scout-patch-iron-on/merit badges.

Special Requirements

Merit badges are awarded for Scout Groups.

How It Makes A Difference

We rely on volunteers to collect and donate used and unwanted crayons from homes, restaurants, and schools across the country, so we can  melts them down and remanufacture them.  Every year, 60 million crayons get thrown away, usually ending up in a landfill. These crayons become a waxy mess that will never biodegrade causing harm to our environment. You can ensure your crayons get recycled and given a new life by sending them to The Crayon Initiative.
