Description

Cyber-older adults is an intergenerational program that trains young people to be tech mentors for older adult citizens. The ability to use online communication applications to stay connected is vital for older adults and other vulnerable people. Helping a older adult learn to use transactional websites to order groceries, pharmaceuticals, food delivery, etc., will make a big difference in allowing them to remain self-sufficient from the safety of their home. In the best of times, digital literacy can be life-altering; in times like these, it can be life-saving.

Instructions

First visit our website and register as a volunteer. We invite teenagers, young adults and individuals of any age who are tech-savvy, to volunteer to deliver tech training and support services to older adults. Register to take the online Cyber-older adults Mentor Training program (approximately two hours) upon which a Certificate of Completion is awarded. You can then access available opportunities to help with daily webinars or one-on-one tech support. Hours spent volunteering with Cyber-older adults count towards volunteer service hours and are tracked by our scheduling system. Cyber-older adults will make its best effort to accommodate students requiring a certain number of hours for community service or course completion. Register on website (https://cyberolder adults.org/volunteers) Complete the Mentor Training Program. Follow the instructions you'll receive in your email to set up a profile and uSked. Begin supporting older adults!
